A CAS team paired an LC-MS lipidomics workflow with transcriptomics to profile lipids in Rhodosporidium toruloides under nitrogen limitation, identifying 1,206 lipid species. They found two oil accumulation stages: triacylglycerols peaked at 144 hours, then declined as polyunsaturated lipids became relatively enriched.
