A study of ERA5-Land data from 1950–2024 found compound drought–heat wave events in Oman were most frequent in central-western and northern regions, with 2023–2024 exceptionally severe. Drought frequency rose significantly in about 60.32% of grid cells, while heat-wave and compound trends varied geographically.
