Medieval coins discovered in Rome are actually from England

Archaeologists digging near the Vatican found 20 Anglo-Saxon coins fused together after 1,000 years underground, proof that England's medieval pilgrims traded in their own currency despite Roman law banning foreign money. More of these coins now turn up in Rome than papal ones.
