Physical properties of star-forming clumps in nearby galaxies from CLAUDS and HSC-SSP

arxiv.org/abs/2609.20079

An AI trained to spot galaxy features found 710,000 star-forming clumps hiding in 210,000 nearby galaxies, structures once thought exclusive to the distant early universe. Their sizes and inward drift suggest these clumps migrate toward galactic centers, building the bulges at their cores.
