Washington state resident dies from bird flu following exposure to infected cattle

A Yakima County, Washington resident who had prior health conditions died Sunday from H5N1 bird flu after exposure to infected cattle at a dairy, county health officials said. The CDC said the virus sample showed no changes that would ease spread or worsen illness, and county officials reported 33 dairy herds recently testing positive.
