An hour before she would have become the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years, a federal appeals court halted Christa Gail Pike's lethal injection to examine claims her childhood rape and abuse were never fully weighed at sentencing. The state has already appealed the 2-1 stay to the Supreme Court.
