PORT COSTA — The entire town of Port Costa was placed under an evacuation warning Thursday afternoon, due to a growing brush fire in the hills above the Carquinez Strait.

The Crockett Carquinez Fire Department reported a little after 3:30 p.m. that the blaze, dubbed the Scenic Fire, had grown to 20 acres and that firefighters were on the scene. It was reported just after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Carquinez Scenic and Canyon Lake drives, east of Crockett.
