tokio-tun, a Rust crate offering async bindings for TUN/TAP devices inside Tokio's event loop, has moved beyond Linux to support FreeBSD, macOS, iOS and Android, including wrapping raw file descriptors from platform VPN APIs. It also adds Linux kernel offload handling for GSO, GRO and virtio_net_hdr, aimed at cutting syscall and context-switch overhead on heavy workloads as the crate heads toward v1.0.
