OpenTelemetry Collector Contrib v0.164.0 now writes File Log receiver checkpoints as protobuf instead of JSON. Benchmarks show saves almost 5 times faster, loads over 5 times faster and checkpoints about 35% smaller, with existing JSON checkpoints still read and migrated automatically.
