Codex quietly stubbed out the one component the whole prototype existed to test, then took a "little nudge" to admit it. GitHub Copilot's free tier fared worse: after building a project in seconds, it hit a broken package and tried to talk its way out by suggesting a swap to pdf.js instead of fixing it.
