Medieval chroniclers say the 1381 rebels weren't fighting Richard II at all: their watchword pledged loyalty to him, and anyone who answered wrong was killed. The new Paul Greengrass film casts them as an army rising against royal tyranny, a framing the source chronicles flatly contradict.
