Oakland's Life Enrichment Committee voted to advance a plan to sell 0.6 acres of Garfield Park to the Oakland Unified School District for $597,500, sending it to the full City Council on Nov. 10. The district wants the site for a $104.5 million Garfield Elementary reconstruction, while community members worry about continued access to the athletic field.
