A new AI tool matches surgical X-rays to a patient's preoperative CT or MRI scan in about five minutes of setup, then aligns images in seconds with sub-millimeter precision, beating existing methods by an order of magnitude. Called xvr, it could help clinicians steer catheters and endoscopes more safely and extend specialized procedures like stroke intervention to patients far from major hospitals.
