No team has repeated as NBA champion since the 2018 Warriors, and only that Warriors team even made it back to the Finals. The Knicks now carry a title, a weaker defense after losing Mitchell Robinson, and a suddenly loaded East that includes Kawhi in Toronto and Giannis in Miami.

A new art project called the Department of New Yorker Verification is stripping Queens-born Donald Trump of his "New Yorker" status for trash-talking the city, while awarding it to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who wasn't born in the US. The rules run on "suffering points" for things like rat sightings and turnstile jumps.

David Bailey piled up three sacks and nine pressures, the most by a rookie in a game since Jared Verse, finally delivering on his No. 2 overall pick status. It came the same week comparisons to Giants rookie Arvell Reese, taken three picks later, had started to sting.

Quincy Williams promised to be a "nightmare" for his old team, then forced three fumbles and racked up 11 tackles against the Jets, including a vicious hit that knocked rookie Kenyon Sadiq into concussion protocol. His former team still won 17-12, leaving him unimpressed with his own stat line.

A new City Council bill backed by Mamdani would let private plaintiffs sue businesses with as few as five employees for vaguely defined "unfair" practices: the same owners his own "OPEN for Small Business" agenda called small just months ago.
