Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) hit a new record for Singles' Day, it's annual one-day shopping extravaganza, hitting the $30.5 billion mark by mid-afternoon China time. 

Last year Alibaba was able to hit $30.4 billion in Gross Merchandise Volume during a 24-hour period. Breaking this record mid-afternoon -- while people are ostensibly busy at work -- is a sign that another buying rally will occur when the workday ends.
