Facebook’s data breach from last week – which impacted more than 50 million users – might cost the company a pretty penny. If the European Union’s (EU) watchdog finds that the company violated privacy laws, it could face a massive fine of $1.63 billion.
Under GDPR laws, if the EU concludes that the company didn’t do enough to safeguard its users’ data, it can face a fine up to 4% of its global revenue.
