The novelty surrounding a gaming phone died out after everyone decided to follow Razer’s footsteps and release their version of a ‘gaming phone’. However, this year at Computex, ASUS had a surprise in store for everyone. At first, the ROG Phone seemed like a garden-variety gaming-centric smartphone. And then, ASUS proceeded to announce some features that were unheard of even in flagships. No release date was mentioned at the time, and today, we get to see a glimpse of the ROG phone in action in the hands of none other than YouTube influencer MKBHD. Here’s the full video in case you want to check it out:

The ASUS ROG phone sports a 6-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2160×1080. The panel’s refresh rate can be bumped up to 90Hz, making it the worlds first ever HDR-ready OLED panel that is capable of doing so. By default, the panel runs at 60Hz, and you’ll need to enable the 90Hz mode via settings. The Razer phone still reigns supreme with its 120Hz refresh rate, albeit on an LCD panel. The ROG phone is designed to look as gamer-y as possible with its odd-shaped cutouts for the camera and flash, the giant ASUS logo that lights up at the centre and the heatsinks to the left of the logo. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the cameras just yet. But, do the cameras really matter on a gaming phone?
