A few years ago I wrote an article titled "Candy Crush and Porn: The Battle for Your Mind." It was an examination of how technology and what we consume influences us. While those thoughts are still valid, it appears we are affected in more ways than I realized.

Per Psychology Today, Dopamine is a "neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting signals between the nerve cells of the brain." One of dopamine's functions is aiding in learning about rewards. When something good happens, our brains release dopamine, which tells us we liked it.
