A man found dead Wednesday morning in unincorporated Santa Clara County was believed to have been killed in a hit-and-run incident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two residents taking a morning walk alerted authorities at 6:55 a.m. about a person thought to be experiencing a medical emergency on Alum Rock Avenue near Kirk Avenue, in the foothills east of San Jose city limits. Officers determined upon arrival that the man was deceased, and had been dead since late Tuesday or early Wednesday, CHP Public Information Officer Ross Lee said.
