After a day of heavy rain and gusty winds, nearly 148,000 Pacific Gas & Electric customers in the Bay Area were without power late Sunday, the utility provider said.

Broken down by region, 47,000 affected households and businesses were on the Peninsula, 29,000 in the South Bay, 21,700 in the East Bay and 42,000 in Marin and Sonoma counties, it said. One of the largest outages covered most of Foster City.
