FREMONT — After three years as Fremont’s city manager, Mark Danaj abruptly resigned from his position this week without an explanation.

While city officials are mum on any reason for the departure, city records suggest the City Council may have forced Danaj out of the role, a decision that will cost the city more than $300,000.
