The Caldor Fire grew slightly overnight thanks to warmer temperatures and low humidity, but firefighters continued to make progress battling the blaze and protecting homes.

The fire has burned 216,358 acres — up from 215,400 Sunday — and remains 44% contained. Much of the fire’s advance Sunday night was in steep, challenging terrain in the western zone of the blaze.
