Firefighters continued their efforts to protect homes and other structures Wednesday in South Lake Tahoe, as the relentless Caldor Fire moved past 200,000 acres and forced even more evacuations.

The blaze, which started Aug. 14, had burned 204,390 acres and was 20% contained by Wednesday morning, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
