The owner of Rocco’s Ristorante Pizzeria, a Walnut Creek hub for families and high school sports teams for 21 years, has apologized for his comments supporting the Martinez couple who defaced a city-permitted Black Lives Matter mural on Saturday, minutes after community members finished painting it.

On Monday, Rocco Biale, a third-generation Bay Area restaurant owner, posted inflammatory comments on former Martinez city councilman Tim Farley’s Twitter page defending the couple that vandalized the yellow mural in front of the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse by covering it with black paint on July 4.
