Tim Cook, who last year seized on Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica mess and positioned Apple as a privacy champion, is calling on Congress to pass federal privacy legislation after scandals and breaches galore.
In an essay for Time published Thursday, the Apple CEO also pushed for the Federal Trade Commission to create a clearinghouse where data brokers would have to register, “enabling consumers to track the transactions that have bundled and sold their data from place to place, and giving users the power to delete their data on demand, freely, easily and online, once and for all.”
