SAN JOSE — Police officers shot and killed a man at an east foothills apartment complex while trying to arrest him in connection with a homicide in Gilroy and other shootings in South County, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at about 10:20 a.m. on La Pala Drive off McKee Road, at the Villa Fairlane apartments. Police have not disclosed whether the man, whose name has not been publicly released, was armed when he was shot.
